South Dakota has been referred to as the land of infinite variety.  That variety is reflected in everything from its weather, to its scenery, to its economy (no state income taxes by the way!) to its states symbols and more.  Our client, a beef producer located in Aberdeen, SD is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager. The ideal candidate MUST have fresh meat or beef processing experience with 4 years of work experience. Salary is based on your experience and your training.

Responsibilities:

  • Assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.  Communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews.
  • Preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes. Measuring production, documenting evidence, determining operational and performance qualifications, writing and updating quality assurance procedures.

·         Enhances department and organizations reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Provides leadership to department employees and the organization. Train department employees.

·         Oversee compliance with sanitation standard operating procedures and food safety programs and Implementing the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HAACP) program.

·         Collecting and analyzing process data according to procedures for product, acts as a liaison to USDA.

·         Pre-op Inspections and compliance.

 

Qualifications:

·         Experience in the food industry or microbiology – Four years in a beef plant desired.

·         Minimum three years Quality Control/Quality Assurance Experience.

·         Two years. management exp.

·         HAACP Certified knowledge of SQF/BRC and production experience a plus but not required.

·         Ability to read, write and understand English. Spanish Language skills a plus.

·         OSHA Certification.

·         Authorized to work in the US.

·         Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests to be eligible for employment.

  • Must be extremely detail-oriented with respect to documentation and communication.
  • BS/BA degree in Food Science or Meat Science.
  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills a must.
  • Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner.
  • Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability.
  • Must have experience in managing and working with distributed team members.
