Our client, a global leader in the dehydrated vegetable category with US operations in a southwest suburb of Chicago is seeking a Quality Control Manager.    We are searching for a 3 to 5 year experienced Quality Manager that will ensure products meet or exceed all food safety standards.

The Quality Manager will continuously drive the company's culture towards food safety.  The goal is to continue to preserve the company reputation by ensuring all their products are capable to drive sustainable growth.  Understanding customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes will be a top priority.  We are seeking an organized, confident and strong communicator with an equally strong work ethic who is seeking career growth opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Enforce existing policies and procedures to excel all food safety standards as established by federal and state regulatory agencies, customs and relevant industry accreditation at the plant level.
Will report directly to the Director of Operations with dotted line reporting to the Director of QA.
Implement regulatory requirements including HACCP/FSMA compliance.
Investigate, report & respond to all customer complains.  Report complaints to respective suppliers as need for correction action(s) and long-term preventative action(s).
Maintain annual audits (3rd party, internal & customer) are conducted, reported & properly filed.  Facilitate and lead 3rd party audits & responses to corrected actions.
Work with 3rd party to manage pest control program
Govern the facilities sanitation schedule and initiatives
Exposure to dehydrated vegetable products.
Must be able and willing to work in a food manufacturing environment with strong spice & pepper aromas.
Flexible work schedule.
Writing reports and presentations
Manage team of at least (3) Quality Technicians.
Comfortable and familiarity to be on production floor 50% of the time.
Ability to make management decisions.  Manage department performance through establishing expectations, holding people accountable and developing a sense of urgency in addressing QC responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 – 5 years' experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance managerial role in the food manufacturing industry.   Experience with dehydrated vegetable or dry ingredients a plus!
Must have working knowledge of HACCP with ability to review and update SOP's and ensure compliance of HACCP by suppliers.  HACCP certified preferred.
Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action writing in a food safety environment.
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemistry.
Keen understanding of pest control & infestation prevention/management
Must be able to work in a dehydrated vegetable product environment with strong spice & pepper aromas.
Experience and familiarity leading and running audits
