Our client takes pride in their 106 year history in the dairy industry.  Renowned for their cheese making expertise and award winning dairy products, they are looking to add an exciting new opportunity for a Senior R&D Branded Scientist to their growing R&D team!  Our client is located along the Pacific coast in Oregon.

This newly developed position will play a key role in our client’s branded retail business, where innovation is required for competitive growth & sales.  We are searching for someone with a strong statistical background to produce production wins.  If your personality is someone that can lean in and assist with developing a solid team, this could be the opportunity for you!

The Senior R&D Scientist role plays a central role in our clients branded innovation process, acting as a steward of quality, cost savings projects, managing and conducting technical research, interfacing with 3rd party researchers and universities, and developing products for the client’s brand.  The R&D Sr. Scientist provides statistical information for product development by identifying testing methods & samples for our clients branded products.  Collaboration with internal & external development groups is key.  Project examples include designing & leading R&D Technologists in technically complex projects to demonstrate technical readiness for commercialization and testing verification for shelf life forecasting. 


Ø  Bachelors +8 years’ experience in dairy ingredient field

o   Masters +6 years’ experience in dairy ingredient field

o   PhD + 3 years’ experience in dairy ingredient field

Ø  Must have varied experience including dairy manufacture, research & laboratory analytics.

Ø  Designing & leading R&D Technologists in technically complex projects.

Ø  Design & perform scale up trials to transition from ideation through feasibility and to commercialization.

Ø  Manage projects across a cross functional team of operations, engineering, R&D, quality, marketing & sales teams.

Ø  Must be personable and interact at all levels of the organization.

Ø  Green Belt/Black Belt, a plus

Ø  Research & ideation related to new technologies.

Ø  Design robust statistical industrial experiments

Ø  Use statistics, calculus & linear algebra to develop models for analysis.

Ø  Interface with university & price research firms.

Ø  Communicate effectively written & oral.  Present statistical information.

Ø  Valid Oregon Drivers License with acceptable driving record

The successful candidate will have previous experience with leading technical teams, managing statistical process and procedures in dairy foods facility and will show competence in the following:  Microsoft Office Suite, Statistical Software, Manufacturing Methodology, Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical process Control (SPC) Project Management procedures and Data Analysis.

This role requires visits to manufacturing facilities that will be new to the employee.  Additionally, maintaining processional & technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks will be required.
