Summary of Position:

For over 70 years our client has been a small, one hundred employee, locally owned and vertically integrated manufacturing company specializing in the design and plastic injection molding and assembly of small plastic parts for multiple industries.  They are in search for a HR Generalist/Safety Coordinator for their Racine, Wisconsin location. Very commutable from Milwaukee county.

The private ownership have a challenging opportunity for a Human Resources/Safety professional to assist the executive team in the growth and management. They are searching for a candidate that has a few years of practical experience leading and developing the HR and safety functions within a manufacturing setting.

Seeking an individual that can add value to its internal strategic planning. This position will also be responsible for the development and implementation of High Performance Work Teams in support of our Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost & Inventory business initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position would be responsible for not only the maintenance of all benefit programs already offered their employees and the HR Manager would also have the opportunity to develop and implement new policies and procedures that complement and advance the companies established and highly technical manufacturing business model.  These are exciting times for the organization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

HR Generalist

  • Strategically aligns the workforce to meet the goals of the organization.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals
  • Where necessary, conducts employee investigations, drafts investigation reports and submits conclusions and recommendations to the Executive team.
  • Trains, coaches and mentors Front Line Leaders in leadership development, interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety and sexual harassment
  • Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance
  • Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations

Safety Coordinator

  • Works with medical providers to ensure proper care and facilitate employees' return to work
  • Receives and record all accident reports, participate in incident investigations and ensure containment and corrective actions are appropriately identified and implemented
  • Maintains OSHA 300 log by division for annual posting and other reporting
  • Coordinates all aspects of safety and OSHA training programs
  • Conducts safety audits in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Works with safety committee to achieve pre-determined goals and objectives to drive down incident rate
  • Actively participates in site safety initiatives, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Required experience:

  • Bachelor degree
  • Human Resources: 3 years Human Resources in Manufacturing: 2 years
  • 3-5 years of relevant Human Resources experience including benefits, coaching/mentoring, recruiting, investigations, discipline, and policy/procedure implementation
  • Experience in manufacturing setting or relevant experience preferred
  • Passion for employee Safety
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university preferably in the field of HR
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Speak, read and understand English fluently
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel required) and social media recruiting knowledge
  • Ability to work extended hours and shifts as business needs dictate
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
