PointOne Recruiting has recently partnered with a premiere commercial custom USA architectural millwork company located in southern California with manufacturing and engineering located in Tijuana, Mexico in pursuit of an ENGINEERING MANAGER to add to their team. They are a growing company on the edge of technology, creative and high end commercial interior millwork projects with respectable contractors and clients. The drafting and engineering team consists of 24 people.

We are seeking an experienced woodworking industry professional who has demonstrated success as an impressive trainer/leader/people person within an engineering department. This person will develop a schedule to reflect the skillset of the 24 member team in drafting and engineering and also be review accuracy of drawings. Additionally, they will develop their own training program to assist in the continued education and professional development of the drafting and engineering team.

The ideal Engineering Manager candidate will possess:

> In depth experience in drafting and/or engineering of a custom architectural millwork shop
> Thorough understanding of AWI standards
> Work experience with automated machinery – CNC both 3 & 5 axis, edge banders and other is a plus
> Hands on experience working in a shop is a plus
> Leadership experience in supervisory or management or department lead
> Is a forecaster, demonstrated success in planning ahead
> A true understanding of what a big picture view means on the front end
> Desires to share their vision of how an productive and efficient engineering department can be ran
> Understands exactly what is going to be fabricated and knows what problems may arise and how to address those issues
> Is calm under pressure and isn’t afraid to lead the engineering team on big complex projects
> Ability to interpret architectural drawings
> Good communicator, both internally and externally

Responsibilities of this role include:
• Managing the design engineering process to meet customer requests, work schedules and cost estimates
• Managing and developing a team of 24 drafters and engineers
* Developing schedule
• Working directly with senior leadership in Manufacturing, Project Management, and Sales
• Interfacing with manufacturing leadership to develop and/or improve upon manufacturing processes; designing for “manufacturability”
• Prioritizing changing demands and structuring the area to ensure deadlines are met
* Developing training to meet the needs of team members
* Plant is located in Tijuana, Mexico and this person will be officed there. Travel/commute from San Diego or surrounding area is ideal.
