Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams both internally and externally to drive on-going program and relational success and will interact regularly with customers.
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains the product quality operating systems.
- Obeys and enforces the safety and conduct rules, as published.
- Participates as a Quality Department Representative for new product APQP and changes to existing products.
- Address issues both in-house and at the customer.
- Prepares and maintains quality documentation, including but not limited to Control Plans, PFMEA’s, Flow Charts, and Inspection and Gaging Instructions.
- Assumes lead responsibility to assure the proper preparation, review, and submittal of PPAP documentation.
- Reviews layouts and gaging checks and make disposition on product.
- Visits customer operations and regularly communicates with customers for purposes of continuous improvement, problem resolution, cost reduction, and improved communication and goodwill.
- Serves as Champion and/or Team Member for 8Ds, CARs, and other problem-solving investigations for internal and external.
- Is the primary contact for Customer 8Ds.
- Assists in training associates on product quality checks and functions.
- Guides, directs, and supervises Quality Engineers as assigned.
- Processes RMA’s and reviews, dispositions, and initiates corrective actions for customer returns.
- Attends and supports meetings and Company sponsored initiatives.
- Functions as a regular participating member of the CPQR team for products assigned.
- Works under limited supervision, receives daily goals from supervisor but must be able to manage time and projects on own.
- Exercises supervision over quality inspectors and technicians.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field preferred
- Previous experience within an automotive manufacturing plant
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills, as well as problem-solving in high-stress situations
- Ability to operate a computer and various software, such as Microsoft Office and CAD programs
