We are looking for a reliable Staff Accountant to assist in preparing, reviewing, and correcting accounting information, reports and financial statements, under the supervision of a controller. You will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up control systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the month-end process for the company and its smaller sister companies. Ensure that all required entries are made timely and accurately.
• Review and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts as part of month end closing process
  • Review Income Statement accounts for accuracy and correct classification as part of month end closing process.
• Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
• Assists in the preparation of the company’s annual budget.
• Prepare major vendor reports by job and month due; update reports throughout the month as additional activity occurs.
• Prepare ad hoc reports accurately and completely as needed.
• Review payable reports for accuracy and completeness, prior to distribution to executive management
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Be the primary liaison with the companies outside accounting firm at year-end, assisting in the annual review as needed.
• Review the company’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances
• Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records

Requirements

• Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skill
• Combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
• Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (e.g. Timberline)
• Well-organized with ability to prioritize
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• BS/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is preferred
