Construction Superintendent

  • Maintain and execute the project plan as laid out by the Project Manager, and schedule and ensure compliance with budget, schedule, plans and specifications.
  • Supervise and coordinate all construction activities
  • Supervise, direct, coach and train Assistant Superintendents, RWC General Laborers, and Field Interns
  • Create site specific plans and procedures; ensures the implementation of RWC’s Safety Program to create a safe work environment throughout the jobsite; adhere to the safety and record keeping requirements; integrate RWC’s Safety Program in all site specific plans and procedures to ensure a safe work environment; adhere to all safety and record keeping requirements
  • Obtain necessary information from engineers, designers, inspectors, municipal/provincial authorities and owners
  • Advise General Superintendent and Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts; anticipate and resolve project issues and schedule difficulties
  • Maintain the project’s Daily Report log, routine inspections.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date drawings.

Qualification Standards

  • College degree in Construction Management preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Superintendent. Experience as a superintendent with a commercial general contractor building projects $5M and up is preferred
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work at project locations anywhere in the Greater Metro area
  • Experience supervising and mentoring large crews; ability to manage others
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and company operations specifically construction specifications, building materials, methods and procedures
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, and Outlook and internal operational systems. Ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to lead and assess trade performance on the job
  • Ability to apply basic engineering principles to construction challenges
  • Ability to visualize the entire project and anticipate constructability issues and embed solutions in the construction plans and schedules
  • Can visualize and create the project schedule’s critical path
  • Ability to schedule, monitor and forecast resources for optimum efficiency
  • Ability to manage many facets of the construction projects and assume responsibility
  • Understands when to seek out professional advice
  • Employment with RWC may be contingent upon a background check and/or substance abuse test

Working Conditions

  • The position will work at a jobsite trailer at an active jobsite
  • Must be able to walk, stand, lift, climb, pull and navigate through a warehouse, construction site, and work in an office environment
  • Must be able to work around and near welding, cutting, grinding, heavy equipment, cranes, heat, dirt, dust, heights, vibrations, and confined spaces
  • Travel will be required around the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area – must have reliable access to a vehicle.
