The position reports into the Commercial organization and is the integration point between Finance, Marketing, Sales and Supply Chain as the demand planning expert in a dynamic manufacturing, consumer packaged goods environment. Responsible for developing the Consensus Forecast used for Supply Planning and supporting inventory management.  Supports financial planning and budgeting as well as creates forecast models that generate key market drivers, trends and insights to provide guidance to the overall forecast, and any gaps versus financial targets. Job Responsibilities-Demand Planning Specialist:

Monthly SIOP Meetings/Consensus Planning

Lead monthly Demand Review meetings to highlight significant month-to-month forecast changes and understand consequent supply response. Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans with supply planning 

Achieve consensus for operational demand forecasts by facilitating a collaborative planning process with Marketing/Sales and Finance to understand demand forecast drivers. Manage the aligned demand plan, and ensure a clean translation of the demand plan to Finance and Sales Lead for use in financial forecasting activities.

Create and manage statistical models to predict baseline demand trends for customers, and drive model accuracy improvements. 

Establish best practice to determine alternate planning approaches for items which are difficult to forecast using traditional techniques.

Lead and support initiatives or projects for continuous improvement of forecasting tool, reporting or business processes.   

Review customer, item-level key forecast misses from prior periods, conduct root-cause analytics, and enable methods for continuous improvement. Monitor actual sales trends against historical forecasts to anticipate and prevent excess stock build or low stocks. 

Collect, analyze, and document quantifiable market intelligence from business functions and other sources, and incorporate into the baseline demand forecast to create the total demand plan. 

Create a shipment-based demand forecast at the (customer/item) levels, and clearly communicate changes and key misses to Supply Chain for context. 

Manage customer projections for inventory builds and seasonal shipment/consumption plans 

Deliver forecast accuracy, forecast volume error, and forecast bias KPIs by utilizing robust analytics while applying data from brand, market and customer trends 

Provide Supply Chain insights back into the Sales organization to balance sales with constrained supply 

Share consensus demand plans and collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure consistency between supply and demand planning, particularly in constrained supply situations. 

Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs. 

Validate forecast risks and opportunities as managed by Sales, and discuss with Supply Chain to proactively manage potential write-off or customer service issues before they occur 

Provide insight into short-term business plans and longer-term (12-18 month) strategies with Supply Chain to drive optimal supply chain strategy


Job Requirements-Demand Planning Specialist:

5-7 years of experience in forecasting within a Consumer Products manufacturing environment. 

Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain, or engineering  

Prior experience in forecast modeling techniques, tool selection and implementation experience.  

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively engage others as necessary to resolve issues. 

Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with a high commitment to meeting schedules. 

Strong systems aptitude including knowledge of MS Office, Pivot tables and +VBA SQL and Demand Planning software. 

Effective communication skills with ability to communicate at the appropriate level of detail at various levels within the organization. 

Promotable cross-functionally in Supply Chain and/or the business. 

Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
