Director of BIM

Job Location: 
Waco, TX

The Director of BIM will lead the BIM department in developing all modeling, drawing, coordination, and pre-fabrication handoff efforts, while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.  The Director will work with estimators, project managers, field operations, general contractors, and the fabrication team while managing and executing workload to complete all BIM efforts in a timely manner.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage or delegate all BIM work, ensuring timely completion of all projects with the highest quality standards.

Leads through coaching and developing the BIM team.

Supports the sales, estimating, project management, field operation and pre-fabrication functions through the development of coordinated ductwork, plumbing and piping.

Leads team in the development of 2D and 3D models up to LOD 400, coordination efforts, shop drawings, spool drawings, and as-built drawings as required.

Provides quality review for mechanical CAD drafting work performed by others, internally and/or externally.

Improve and strengthen procedures, standards and training to optimize the efficiency of the BIM Department.

Emphasizes and demonstrates commitment to a safe work environment.



Exemplify strong leadership skills.

Advanced user of Revit, AutoCAD, CADmep, Navisworks, Bluebeam as well as experience with AutoDesk, Adobe, Microsoft Office products.

Familiarity of HVAC and plumbing, and materials and construction methods used for various applications.

Understanding of isometric and schematic drawings; ability to interpret engineering, architectural, and construction plans, drawings and specifications, and knowledge of current building, mechanical and plumbing codes is required.

Familiarity with Trimble Total station, 3D laser scanning, and virtual reality for construction projects highly desired.

Familiarity with BIM 360 and CAMduct software highly desired.

Familiarity with 4D construction sequencing desired

Familiarity with COBie based projects desired.

Experience in leading coordination for a multi-disciplined team on large construction projects highly desired.
