Director of Operations

We are currently seeking a Director of Operations who will contribute to the success of the company by overseeing management of all departments to ensure safe and efficient operation of the local branch of business.  This position directs the long-range planning, coordination, and execution of all operations to ensure approved products are produced on schedule, and within quality standards and cost objectives.  It is the Director of Operation’s role to ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines, and to be ultimately responsible for 100+ employees.

 

Responsibilities

Must have a minimum of 10+ years of lean manufacturing experience with demonstrated success implementing lean principles, preferably in the kitchen cabinetry industry

Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.

Directs all aspects of the manufacturing, ensuring value is created for customers, employees, and the organization.

Drives policy development and implementation in the areas of production technique, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures.

Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training, and development

Manages problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships.

Ensures through succession planning that employee bench strength and staffing levels are in place to successfully meet and exceed our operational, customer, employee and organizational long term commitments.
Identifies, communicates and drives implementation of capital investments and improvement projects.

Ensures long term development and stability for all operations

Apply Root Cause Corrective Action principles when solving problems

Capacity for overseeing a combination of 100 direct and indirect reports

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Green or Black Belt Certification Preferred

 

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance, or related field.

At least 10 years of hands-on managerial and budgeting experience.

Previous experience in quality, safety, maintenance, and production

Lean Six Sigma experience required

Green or Black Belt Certification Preferred

Working Relationships

The Director of Operations manages employees in all departments of the local branch, and is responsible for leadership and performance management. This position works under the direct supervision of the

Executive Vice President, and requires communication with all employees, whether top management, or direct or indirect reports.

 

Physical Requirements

Position requires constant physical effort both inside and outside of an air-conditioned environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the manager is required to stand, walk, and perform motions for an extended period of time and must be able to lift and/or move in excess of sixty (60) pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. It also requires reading and interpreting instructions as well as having the ability to identify and distinguish color.
