Driver Recruitment Manager

This role reports to the Director of Operations, will provide primary support/ manage all driver recruitment and driver retention. This role is responsible for the recruiting of independent contractor drivers as well as company drivers performing port and inland destination drayage operations and act as a resource on all points in the recruitment cycle.  The Driver Recruitment Manager will communicate our driver opportunities to prospective candidates. Determine driver qualifications by interviewing applicants, analyzing responses and comparing qualifications to job requirements.  Train, develop, and maintain system for driver retention, including being an advocate to address driver concerns.  Assist in other tasks as assigned by management.  Must be bi-lingual in Spanish/ English, strong port drayage/ trucking knowledge, have clean DMV record, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation (mileage will be reimbursed).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Applies new and current techniques and develops recruitment programs to attract applicants and to fill specific routes/ openings.

Confers with management and supervisors to identify driver needs.

Creatively source and develop a pool of qualified driver applicants through a variety of advertising techniques including social media, direct sourcing, internet searches, newspapers, job fairs, and other channels.

Writes and places job advertising in various media.

Monitors social media for driver issues and responds/ addresses the issue.  This may include training drivers or other team members on how to better approach specific issues.

Coordination of driver processing and orientation training with driver safety department.  Trains drivers on pay and benefits and is the primary contact/ relationship for drivers even after they onboard. 

Works with external recruiters and employment agencies to identify and recruit candidates.

Participates in new hire training.

Full understanding of pay rates, safety requirements, and driver KPIs, to communicate required performance expectations from drivers.

Develop and maintain a system for driver retention, including driver relations engagement and bridging communication between Dispatch Operations, Driver Settlement, and Safety Department to address driver concerns.  This will include checking in with drivers on a regular basis to see if there are any questions or concerns that can be addressed.

A qualified candidate will have a minimum of 5 years driver recruitment experience. 


Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Bi-lingual English/Spanish mandatory.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
