Manufacturing Engineer

Our client is a market leading 350 person manufacturing company with a large campus in central Wisconsin.  To support lean manufacturing efforts, they are hiring a direct hire Manufacturing Engineer / Equipment Engineer to add to their engineering staff.

 

Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer designs, validates and implements new manufacturing processes for new products, engineering change notifications, and manufacturing test trials of new products by developing the process flow diagrams, manufacturing cells, and production line layouts, equipment qualification, process validation procedures, SOP’s and work instructions; This leader drives change and continuous improvement through implementation of a lean methodology. The Manufacturing Engineer takes the necessary actions to correct and prevent the recurrence of non-conformities.

 

Responsibilities

Improves manufacturing methods

Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow and designs layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency

Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures

Provides input for selection of appropriate manufacturing equipment to ensure the most cost efficient solution is available within company budget guidelines

Confers with manufacturing and product engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods

Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards

Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions

Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production process

Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential

Prepares cost estimates involved in changing from present to new methods for approval by immediate supervisor

Investigates the capabilities of new machines and equipment

Works with outside suppliers, operators and inside tooling personnel to provide the best-solutions

Behaves continuously and consistently with desired company values, and characteristics

Communicates and facilitates meetings effectively

Identifies and resolves issues skillfully and in a timely manner

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to create and drive change and effectively communicate

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity analysis

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw conclusions

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & MS Project

Must be familiar with various measuring devices and analyzing information

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering; Industrial Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering can work too.

A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience of related experience in Manufacturing preferred

Experience, knowledge or trained in Six Sigma Lean Methodologies manufacturing 

Six Sigma Lean Green Belt / Black Belt / certification highly desired or ability to obtain within 12 months
