Safety Supervisor

Responsible for encouraging and maintaining the highest level of associate safety and compliance.


Job Description:

Directly oversees of team of safety and compliance associates to ensure compliance including but not limited to: DOT, FMCSA , OSHA, local regulations and company policies are followed.

Strong leadership skills with emphasis on associate development and a “can do” attitude.

Strong communication skills to include verbal and written to include conflict resolution

Defines, Develops, and Implements programs to ensure compliance and proper engagement with rules and regulations of the DOT, FMCSA , OSHA, local regulations and company standards

Investigates, analyzes, and reports any injury or vehicle accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actions

Develops and implements safety training and awareness programs

Coordinates with Human Resources to ensure proper requirements for drug and pre-employment testing

Supervises and plays a distinctive role in all audits, to include record requests from the DOT, FMCSA, OSHAlocal regulatory agencies

Serves as a resource for the development and implementation of safety strategic initiatives.

Proposes best practices and plans for new regulations, policies, and best practices

Engages with leadership to achieve overall objectives and goals

Ensures all drivers are fully qualified in accordance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, local regulations and company policies prior to and throughout their employment

Process vehicle accident insurance claims

Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive driver policy manual

Reports to middle and senior management statistics on driver and equipment files.

Maintain DOT driver files

Responsible for timeliness and accuracy of required paperwork and viability of the company's overall safety program and performance.

Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications:

3-5 years’ experience in transportation industry

1-3 years’ experience as a supervisor or related role

Demonstrated experience developing positive relationships, including effective resolution of compliance issues with state and federal agencies

Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and complete multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to protect confidential information

A working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

In-depth knowledge of: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Reglations federal and state DOT and related regulations

Federal and state workplace safety and occupational safety and health regulations
