The position is responsible for the planning, expediting, and replenishment of assigned finished good products, produced in-house or externally, to maintain target stocking levels and support on-time shipments to customers. The position interacts with all internal departments and supplier contacts to replenish goods on a timely basis, implement product changes, resolve non-conforming materials, and act as a liaison to support related projects or resolve any other business issues. The position may lead or support bidding activity, supplier selection, establishment of commercial terms and business processes with manufacturing partners. The position is responsible for determining replenishment priorities, quantities, publishing the replenishment plan on a regular basis, and working with the various departments on resolving issues to support the replenishment plan. Job Responsibilities-Supply Planning Manager:

• Direct and supervise the production planning and purchasing activities for finished goods supply. 

• Analyze and develop sourcing strategy for finished goods.  

• Lead sourcing change projects- including relocation to new production location (in-house or CMO) or transition to turnkey contract. 

• Perform management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees with assistance from HR. 

• Project lead or support for commercialization projects. 

• Analyze demand variability and replenishment lead times to determine target stocking levels, review and recommend replenishment strategies, and set planning parameters accordingly to support target stocking levels. 

• Review replenishment requirements against forecast and inventory levels to develop and distribute a feasible replenishment plan to assigned manufacturing group(s). Lead collaboration with the Supply Planning team on capacity constraints when necessary. 

• Guide the production scheduler(s) so that the finite schedule aligns with the production plan within the freeze zone of the planning time fence. 

• Develop the master inventory plan and monitor to ensure the appropriate inventory levels are set and maintained. 

• Manage inventory levels and coordinate inventory pre-builds with Manufacturing, Finance and Distribution to compensate for periods of capacity limitation.  

• Ability to communicate and demonstrate the benefits of advanced planning to support compliance to the plan to a wide audience. 

• Review exception reports, make adjustments as necessary, and execute order actions to support replenishment plan. 

• Generate and supply replenishment forecast on a regular basis to supply chain partners (internal partners and vendors). 

• Monitor and identify materials or capacity constraints and work with functional representatives to resolve and support the replenishment plan. 

• Create or support the creation of work orders for assigned products, including conversions, displays, and subassemblies as needed. 

• Support the development and regular reporting of department metrics to inform process effectiveness and ongoing improvement.  


Job Requirements-Supply Planning Manager:

• 5-10 years’ experience in materials planning role within a manufacturing and distribution environment, including working with contract manufacturers and finished goods suppliers. Consumer packaged goods (CPG) experience desirable. 

• Minimum 3 years hands-on management level experience preferred. 

• Advanced Proficiency in manufacturing MRP and distribution DRP systems and processes. Implementation experience desired.  

• Effective communication skills with ability to communicate at the appropriate level of detail at various levels within the organization and with suppliers. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel – Intermediate to Advanced, PowerPoint, Word) required. 

• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions on daily tactical tasks and strategic initiatives of high complexity and business impact, and to work in teams representing the supply chain POV. 

• Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities


Education: Bachelor's Degree in business discipline APICS Certification desired
